The IEC 60364-7-710 standard defines places in medical location in terms of electrical risks according to 3 groups with the Socomec MEDSYS compliant with group 3 which is a medical location where applied parts are intended to be used in applications such as intracardiac procedures, operating theatres and vital treatment where discontinuity (failure) of the supply can cause danger to life.

An applied part is anything that comes into physical contact with the patient for the equipment to perform its function, can be brought into contact with the patient or needs to be touched by the patient.
